How to transfer your Snapchat Memories to Google Photos

Updated November 1, 2026

Google Photos is a great home for your Snapchat Memories: searchable, available on every phone, and sorted by date. The tricky part is getting them there with the right dates. Here are your options.

Step 1: request your Snapchat export

On accounts.snapchat.com → My Data, select Memories, the JSON files and All time, then submit. Snapchat emails you when it is ready. Our full guide details every step.

Step 2, option A: upload by hand

  1. Download every zip file of the export (big exports are split into several files of about 2 GB).
  2. Unzip them and find the memories folder.
  3. Upload the photos and videos on photos.google.com.

The catch: most files will be dated the day you uploaded them, because the export keeps the real dates in a separate file. See why Snapchat Memories have the wrong date.

Step 2, option B: let Memora do it

  1. On Memora, connect Google Photos. Memora can only add photos: it cannot see or change the rest of your library.
  2. Copy the link of the Download button from Snapchat and paste it.
  3. Close the page if you want: the transfer runs on our servers.

Your Memories arrive in a "Snapchat Memories" album, each one with its original date and location, so they show up at the right place in your timeline.

Storage space

Photos uploaded to Google Photos count toward your Google account storage (15 GB free, shared with Gmail and Drive). Check how much space you have before transferring a very large export.

Memora copies your Snapchat Memories to Google Photos or Google Drive, with their real date and location. The first 50 are free, then it is a one-time payment.

Questions

Can I move Snapchat Memories directly to Google Photos?

Snapchat has no built-in button for that. You need to request your data export, then upload the files, by hand or with a tool like Memora.

Will my Memories keep their original date in Google Photos?

Only if the date is written into each file before uploading. Memora does this automatically from the export history.

Does Memora have access to my Google Photos library?

No. It uses an add-only permission: it can create an album and add photos, but cannot read, change or delete anything else.

How much does it cost?

The first 50 Memories are free, then a one-time payment unlocks the rest. There is no subscription.
