Memora helps Snapchat users copy their Memories to the storage service of their choice. This page explains what data we process, why, and for how long.
Data controller
Amine Bourai, doing business as Memora, Québec, Canada (postal address available on request at contact@savememora.com). Contact: contact@savememora.com.
The data we process
- The Snapchat export file (
memories_history.jsonor.html) you provide: dates, media type, location if any, and download links of your Memories. - Your photos and videos, only while downloading them from Snapchat and sending them to the destination you chose.
- Access authorizations (tokens) provided by Google or Dropbox when you connect your account.
- An anonymized identifier of your Snapchat account (a fingerprint computed from the export, which cannot be used to find your username), with the number of Memories transferred and the plan purchased. It is used to apply the free trial and to recognize your purchase.
- Proof of your consent to the terms and this policy: the accepted version and the date, linked to the same anonymized identifier.
- Payments are processed by Paddle.com, our reseller: we never see your card details. We only receive the transaction number and the plan purchased.
- A technical session cookie, needed for the service to work. No advertising or analytics cookies.
- Anonymous visit totals: number of visits per day and referring site (for example TikTok or Google), number of transfers started. No IP address, no identifier and no extra cookie: these numbers cannot be linked to a person.
- Technical logs (server errors), without any content from your media.
We never ask for your Snapchat, Google or Dropbox password.
Why
Only to carry out the transfer you ask for and, if applicable, to recognize your purchase. No advertising, no profiling, no reselling. For residents of the European Union, the legal basis is the performance of the service you request (GDPR article 6.1.b).
How long
- If you paste your export link: our server downloads your export zip from Snapchat and keeps it during the transfer, on a disk located in Montréal. It is deleted as soon as the transfer ends if nothing failed, and in any case 48 hours later at the latest. Your Google or Dropbox authorizations are kept encrypted during the transfer, so that it continues even if you close the page.
- If you upload the zip yourself: photos and videos pass through memory without being saved on our servers, and are forgotten as soon as they are sent.
- The tracking of a transfer (number of Memories, errors, no photos) stays available for 7 days with your tracking link, then it is deleted.
- The content of the export file, access authorizations and transfer status are kept in memory during your session, then erased at the latest 24 hours after your last activity, or when the server restarts.
- The anonymized identifier, the Memories counter and the plan purchased are kept as long as the service exists, to honor your purchase. You can ask for them to be deleted.
Limited access to your accounts
- Google Drive: access limited to the files created by Memora (
drive.file). Memora cannot see the rest of your Drive. - Google Photos: adding photos only (
photoslibrary.appendonly). Memora cannot read your library. - Dropbox: access limited to the app folder.
You can remove these authorizations at any time: Google account, Dropbox account.
Data received from Google APIs
Memora's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This data is only used to send your Memories to your account. It is not sold, not used for advertising, not read by humans, and not used to train artificial intelligence models.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or share your data. It only goes through the services needed for the transfer:
- Snap Inc. (downloading your Memories from your export);
- Google or Dropbox (the destination you choose);
- Paddle.com (payment, invoicing and taxes, if you buy a plan);
- our host: Oracle Cloud, servers located in Montréal (Canada).
Some of these services (Snap, Google, Dropbox, Paddle) process data outside Québec and outside the European Union, in particular in the United States and the United Kingdom. We only send them what is strictly needed for the transfer or payment you request.
